Immortal Review

The review which I am giving on Immortal may be biased as I am a huge fan (185 cm to be exact) of Krishna Udhayasankar. That being said it is the best Indian contemporary mythological fantasy fiction I have ever read and also the only Indian contemporary mythological fantasy fiction.

“The Indian Indiana Jones Professor Bharadvaj and his side kick Manohar who in my head looks a lot like Robin teams up with Maya to find the reason for immortality of Ashwathama aka Prof Bharadvaj while most of the other important characters try to harm them.”

The book takes you on a roller coaster ride through different Regions, time line in history in addition to emotions. While the research of the author in subjects ranging from science to geography is commendable, the most fun part would be the way she hid subtle references and preferences in each character which are like treasures that changes the whole perspective of the reader.

The book satisfies everything I had expected of the book during my year long wait. The book is fast paced with depth in each character. It is like every Krishna Udhayasankar book is well researched. Immortal can be considered as an easier read compared to her ‘The Aryavarta Chronicles’. The fast pace of the book and depth in each character that is revealed in stages keeps you going till the end in one go!
